If the deal is successful this deal can allow RCS-based messages among phones running iOS as well as Android phones, further enhancing the cross-platform communications.

This could have a huge impact on India's business communication area, which is dependent on SMS along with WhatsApp.

RCS messaging is already in operation across a number of countries

According to Dotgo President Inderpal Mumick, a world-wide company that provides RCS platforms, the latest iOS 18.2 version is compatible with person-to-person (P2P) RCS in eight countries including in the US, Canada, Germany, Spain, UK, France, Belgium, and China.

Apple as well as Google have teamed up to make sure they can ensure that Apple iMessage client is able to run through Google's servers and integrated with the networks of carriers across these nations.

Airtel will not be partnering with Google to develop RCS

For India, Apple is expected to follow the same path by collaborating with Google who has collaborated with the telecom operators Vodafone Idea and Reliance Jio.

Yet, Airtel has decided against partnering with Google to send RCS messages due to the issue of spam.

The user experience is unaffected through backend integration

The integration of the backend of Apple as well as Google doesn't likely to alter the user experience.

The RCS message will continue be sent over wireless or mobile data similar to regular SMS messages.

But, this partnership could make a major difference in application-to-person (A2P) messaging, a channel heavily utilized by businesses such as banks and e-commerce firms for official communication.
